Vent: Dropped $150 on a fancy water filter pitcher

Thought it would make my pour-overs taste better. Bottled water was getting expensive. Filtered tap water for 3 weeks straight. Coffee actually tasted flat and dull. Ended up going back to my old grocery store gallon jugs. Anyone else waste money on water gear?

Gave in and bought the same one after reading the reviews... three weeks of watery coffee later I was right back to my $1.50 store brand jugs. Total waste.

omg right??? I bought one of those expensive brita ones with the fancy filter that's supposed to keep minerals in. used it for a month straight and my coffee tasted like nothing. flat and boring just like you said. i even tried different beans thinking maybe i just got a bad batch. nope. went back to my $2 gallon jugs from walmart and everything tastes good again. honestly feel like such a fool dropping that much money on something that made things worse. at least we're not alone in this struggle lol

Man that brita with the mineral thing got me too. I spent like 60 bucks on it and my morning brew was just sad and watery no matter what I did. I even called my buddy who roasts coffee for a living to see if I was doing something wrong lol. He said those filters strip out too much stuff that makes coffee taste good. Now I just use a basic Pur filter for my tap water and its way better. Feels dumb wasting money on stuff that sounds fancy but actually makes things worse.
