That barista who refused to let me order my usual drink

I walked into this small shop in Portland last Tuesday and asked for a vanilla latte like I always do. The barista, this older guy named Mark, just looked at me and said 'nah, you're having a cortado today, trust me.' I almost walked out but I was already late for a job, so I said fine. He made it, handed it over, and honest to god it was the best coffee I've had in years. Has anyone else had a barista just shut down your order like that?

Hmm, that's a pretty strong reaction for just a barista changing your drink order. Maybe it's not that deep - he could've just been having a weird day or trying to show off a specialty roast. Idk, seems like the coffee was good in the end, so maybe it's not worth getting worked up over a name switch.
