Splash about 10x more than I measure coffee grounds now

Used to weigh every single bean on a scale down to 0.1g but after cafe hopping in Austin last month I realized the baristas just eyeball it and the coffee tastes better. Who cares if you're off by 2 grams when the water temp or grind size messes you up way more anyway? Am I the only one who ditched the scale for morning cups?

Exactly. I spent six months weighing every dose down to the tenth of a gram and then I went to this shop in Portland where the dude just scooped grounds out of a jar with a spoon. Best pour over I've had in my life. Realized I was just making coffee harder than it needed to be.

What made you finally trust your eye over the scale after weighing every bean for so long?

Read an article once where a barista in Tokyo talked about how the sound of the beans hitting the grinder tells you more about the grind size than a scale ever could. That stuck with me (even though I can't remember his name) and made me start ignoring the numbers.
