Rant: That pour-over I tried to make at 6am turned into a kitchen disaster

I was half asleep in my kitchen last Tuesday and forgot to put the carafe under the dripper before pouring boiling water. Coffee went everywhere on the counter and I spent 10 mins wiping it up before my first sip, has anyone else had a brain fog moment ruin their morning brew?

Bro I did almost the exact same thing last week but with my french press. Forgot to put the plunger on and just poured the water right into the grounds all over the counter. Had to start over and was late for work lol

Gotta push back a little on this one. French presses are actually way more forgiving than people think, even without the plunger on. If you just pour the water in and let it steep, you can still drink it by carefully pouring through a strainer or even just waiting for the grounds to settle. I've done that before in a pinch and it worked fine, the coffee just had a bit more sediment. Honestly, getting late to work over that sounds like a bigger problem with your morning routine than the press itself. Maybe just set an extra alarm or prep the grinds the night before so you're not rushing so hard.
