Pro tip: I was grinding my beans right before brewing for years and it still tasted bitter
My friend came over last week and saw my bag of whole beans from a shop in Portland. She asked how long I'd had it, and I said about three weeks. She pointed out that my grinder was full of old grounds and oil from past uses, which was making all my fresh coffee taste off. I cleaned it out with some rice (a trick she showed me) and the next cup was totally different. Has anyone else had a grinder mess up their brew without realizing it?

My old Capresso grinder needed a full teardown with a toothbrush and soap. The difference was night and day.

Oh yeah, I did the same thing for months. That stale oil really ruins everything.
