Pour over vs french press - which one actually brings out better flavors?
I used a french press for years but switched to pour over about 6 months ago. The difference in clarity was huge, I could actually taste the fruit notes in my Ethiopian beans for the first time. Anyone else have a strong preference between these two methods?

the clarity was huge" yeah that's the thing right there. I did the same thing, french press for years then tried pour over and it was like hearing a song for the first time after only hearing it on a cheap radio. The muddiness from the french press really hides a lot of those delicate flavors especially with lighter roasts. I still keep my french press around for darker roasts though, that full body is nice sometimes.

The aeropress is a good middle ground too if you want something with a bit more body than pour over but way less sludge than french press. Just gotta dial in the grind size and steep time right or it gets bitter fast.

Oh man, you nailed it with that song comparison. That's exactly what it feels like.
