Overheard a barista say lighter roasts have more caffeine and it blew my mind
I always thought dark roast was the strongest stuff but apparently it's the opposite because the beans lose caffeine the longer they roast. Has anyone else been believing this wrong for years like me?

Wait, is that actually true though? I've seen coffee blogs say the dark roast has a higher concentration of caffeine per scoop because the beans are more brittle and you use more of them by volume. @rubyk86, I think your coffee snob friend might be half right but not completely, lol. I mean, if you weigh your grounds instead of using a scoop, the lighter roast wins, but most people just scoop and level, so dark roast gives you more bang for your buck in practice.

My coffee snob friend once told me this and I laughed at him, then I Googled it and felt like a complete idiot. Guess we've all been living a LIE about our morning fuel.

Wait, so dark roast actually has less caffeine? I always figured the stronger taste meant more kick too... but that's just the roasting process, huh. I used to swear by dark roasts for my morning shift, thought I was getting a bigger boost. This honestly changes how I look at my coffee now, might have to switch it up.
