My neighbor told me to ditch my automatic drip machine for a French press 6 months ago
He's been roasting his own beans for years and kept saying I was missing out on the real flavor. I finally caved and bought a $25 Bodum from Target, and honestly it took me about 3 tries to get the grind and timing right. The first cup was super muddy and bitter, but once I figured out 4 minutes with a coarse grind, the difference was night and day. Anyone else have a friend or family member push them into a brewing method they were skeptical about at first?

A whole week of bad coffee just to figure it out?

My buddy Mark hounded me for like a year to switch from a basic Mr. Coffee drip machine to a Chemex. I finally grabbed one on a whim and the first pour over I made was a disaster, super weak and watery. It probably took me a week of bad coffee before I figured out the right pour technique, but now I cant go back to that old machine. I totally get that moment when it finally clicks and you realize they were right all along.
