My French press cracked right before a camping trip in the Adirondacks
I was packing up for a three day hike last month and my old glass press split at the base when I put it in the box. I had to run to a store in Lake Placid and grab a cheap metal one for $22. It actually worked better than I thought, keeping the coffee hot way longer over the campfire. Has anyone else switched from glass to metal for outdoor stuff and noticed a big difference?

My old glass press did the same thing on a trip to Baxter State Park. The metal ones really do hold heat better over a fire.

Disagree, my metal press cools down way too fast. Maybe it's just me but @the_karen, I've had better luck with glass.
