My barista friend in Denver told me to stop buying pre-ground coffee for good.

He said the flavor loss starts in minutes, not days, and handed me a bag of whole beans from a local roaster. I tried it the next morning and the difference was like hearing a song clearly for the first time. Are we all just wasting money on convenience without realizing how much taste we're missing?

Flavor loss in minutes? That sounds like a line they tell you to sell more grinders. I've left a bag of pre-ground open for a week and it still made a decent cup. The whole bean thing is better, sure, but that claim feels like coffee snob scare tactics.

Feel the same way sometimes, like I'm being sold a story. My own taste buds are pretty forgiving, so a week-old bag still works for me too. Maybe we just have unrefined palates, but hey, it saves us money.

So @jenniferw82, what's the actual time limit before it just tastes like brown water?
