Watched a chuck let go on a lathe in Rockford and I still think about it
Two weeks back at a job shop in Rockford I saw a guy take a 12 inch chuck off a manual lathe with the spindle still spinning down, and that thing rolled right across the floor past his feet. Nobody got hurt but he had the jaws on the wrong side of the part and no one checked his setup, and now every single time I swap jaws I turn the spindle by hand twice and tug on the part. What is the one dumb habit you picked up after seeing somebody get lucky on a machine?
