I finally snapped over the coolant disposal mess

Our shop's coolant recycling is a joke and it's killing the local creek.

That oily sheen you mentioned is exactly what pushed me over the edge. I took pictures of the coolant runoff and reported it to the local water board. They did an inspection and now the shop has to use a licensed disposal service.

My cousin's auto shop in Dayton had to shut down after a similar complaint. Those licensed disposal services cost a fortune, like hundreds a month extra. A bit of oily sheen in runoff isn't going to kill the whole river, it's just a small shop cutting corners. @olivia_lopez16, you might not realize how tough it is for small businesses to stay afloat. They were just trying to save money to pay their mechanics. Now they're out of business, and five people lost their jobs.

Man, that takes me back. My uncle's farm had a neighbor who'd dump used motor oil near a drainage ditch. We'd find dead fish downstream every spring when the snow melted. The creek had this gross oily sheen for years. It's disgusting what carelessness can do to a place.
