Finally ran a full batch of those tricky aluminum parts without a single scrapped piece

Last week in our shop, I got the feed and speed dialed in after three test runs... it was just a matter of listening to the cut. Anyone else find aluminum can be a real pain on humid days?

Yeah humidity is one thing but here's something nobody mentions - barometric pressure. When the pressure drops fast before a storm, your tool engagement changes. Aluminum's already finicky with expansion. Took me years to figure out why some cuts would chatter in the afternoon but not the morning. Started checking the weather along with my speeds. Pressure drop of 0.2 inHg threw off my finish pass by a few thou. Now I adjust my DOC when a front moves through. Not much but just a hair. Makes a difference on those tricky parts.

One time @jamesfox saw a 0.3 inHg swing and had to drop his feed to keep a 0.005 finish.

Totally! Humidity messes with everything.
