Dropped $400 on a fancy tool presetter and it just collects dust now
The shop lead insisted we needed it for our old Haas, but the manual touch-off routine is still faster for our short runs. Anyone have a trick to actually make these things worth the floor space?

Try using it for tool wear checks between runs.

Wait, you guys aren't already checking for wear between every run? That's wild lol. I'd be way too nervous about wrecking a part. I always pop the tool out and give it a quick look under the mag light before hitting cycle start again.

Man, I get what you're saying but that feels like a lot of extra time between runs... especially on a long production day. I'm curious though, how fast are you actually moving when you do that check? Like are we talking a 10 second glance or are you really taking the time to get the mag light out and look at every edge?
