A retired toolmaker at a diner in Toledo gave me the best advice on chatter

I was having coffee after a long shift, still thinking about a titanium part that just wouldn't stop chattering. An older guy at the counter saw my shop jacket and asked what was wrong. When I told him, he said, 'Kid, sometimes you're pushing when you should be pulling. Try climbing that cut.' I went back, switched to climb milling on that part, and the finish was like glass. It's a simple thing, but I'd never had someone put it that way before. Has anyone else had a random tip from an old-timer fix a problem you'd been fighting for weeks?

Build on what @laurac96 is saying, old school tips are gold but you gotta know your machine's quirks before you start flipping cuts on expensive material.

That "climb that cut" advice is classic, but honestly, I've seen it wreck tools on a worn-out machine.

My old shop teacher always warned us about that exact thing.
