Went back to find that 2014 apology video that started it all

Last week I was cleaning out my old YouTube likes and found a clip from 2014 where some beauty guru posted a 7 minute apology for a racist tweet. At the time I remember everyone cheered her for being brave, and she kept her 2 million subs. Now I look at it and it's basically the same script every influencer uses today, right down to the crying and the 'I need to do better' line. Three years ago I would've called that video woke gold, but now I just see it as the prototype for every canned comeback since. Anyone else go back and realize the cancellation cycle has just been repeating itself for a decade?

Does your friend ever mention how these things play out in real life? My neighbor's niece got caught in a similar mess back in 2017, posted an old video of her doing something dumb at a party, and she did the exact same apology. She cried, said she was "on a journey," then quietly came back three months later like nothing happened. The scary part is she actually believed her own script, and her friends all told her she was so brave for it. So yeah, these videos are basically the same prayer every time, and we all keep buying it.
