Vent: That time I clapped back at a cancelled influencer and got ratio'd

Last year I called out this travel blogger, Jenna something, for posting fake "solo" pics in Bali when her boyfriend was clearly behind the camera. She got cancelled for faking adventures, but I went too hard in the replies and ended up with 200 angry comments calling me a hater... I used to just scroll past drama, but now I screenshot everything and wait three days before I type. Has anyone else gotten burned from jumping too fast on a cancellation bandwagon?

I read a study a few years back that said people are way more likely to post angry comments when they feel attacked, even if they agree with you. That Jenna situation sounds rough though, once the mob turns on you there's no reasoning with them. Waiting three days is smart, I do something similar now to let the initial heat die down before I say anything.

Honestly man, I gotta push back a little on the three day wait thing. I know everyone says to cool off, but in my experience, waiting that long just lets the trolls and the angry mob run the whole show. By day three, they've already twisted the story ten different ways and everyone's made up their minds. I'd rather say something quick and honest, even if it's rough around the edges, than let the silence speak for me. Jenna situation sounds like a nightmare, but sometimes you gotta jump in and take the hit before the narrative gets locked in. Your mileage may vary, but I've seen too many people get buried because they waited too long to defend themselves.
