TIL the YouTuber who filmed that fake apology in a confession booth lost 800k subs in 11 days back in 2021
So I fell down a rabbit hole last night about influencer flameouts and found one I totally missed. This guy James Charles style beauty vlogger, forget his name, posted a video in April 2021 apologizing for some drama while literally sitting in a church confession booth with dramatic lighting. People clocked within hours that it was staged and the comments went nuclear. He lost around 800,000 subscribers in under two weeks, then wiped his entire channel a month later. Did the confession booth gimmick ever work for anybody or is it always an instant death sentence?
