That time I got cancelled for defending a brand in a Facebook group
I used to jump into debates defending any brand I liked without thinking twice. Last year I backed a skincare company in a local moms group after someone posted about a bad reaction. Turned out the brand had a whole history of shady customer service I didn't know about. People screenshot my comments and shared them in a cancellation thread on Reddit. It took me 3 weeks to get my name cleared. Has anyone else gotten burned for sticking up for a brand without checking their background first?

Actually got caught in something similar with a fast food chain I used to defend all the time. What worked for me was posting a genuine apology that acknowledged I didn't do my homework first. I kept it short and just said I was wrong to back them without knowing the full story. Then I linked to a few articles about the brand's issues so people could see I actually learned something. After that I stopped defending brands altogether and just let people have their opinions. The thread died down pretty fast once I stopped fighting back.

The real lesson is never trust a brand's PR team.
