That makeup artist apology video made me change my mind about her

I saw this influencer get called out for editing her before and after shots, and I rolled my eyes when she posted a 12 minute tearful apology. Figured it was just damage control, you know, the usual script. But then she showed the raw files with timestamps from her phone, and even had the original photographer back her up. That level of proof actually convinced me she was telling the truth, which never happens. Has anyone else been swayed by a cancellation response that seemed fake at first?

A 12 minute tearful apology plus raw files with timestamps is some impressive homework, not gonna lie. Most of these folks just post a blurry screenshot and call it proof, so I'll give her credit for actually bringing receipts. But I still gotta wonder, how hard is it to fake timestamps these days? Like, someone with editing skills could probably make that stuff look legit in an afternoon. And the photographer backing her up, that's just one person's word against the internet's pitchfork. At the end of the day, who cares that much about before and after lighting on a makeup post anyway.

...and honestly that's the part that gets me too, @mia748. I actually saw a video last week from a digital forensics guy breaking down how even embedded metadata can be spoofed pretty easily with free tools, so timestamps aren't the slam dunk they used to be. Plus, raw files from phone cameras have their own quirks that a casual viewer won't catch, but someone who does this for real could copy in an afternoon. Still, I'll take a tearful 12 minute video over a defensive one-liner any day, at least she's trying to show her work. But yeah, the lighting debate on a makeup post gets way too heated way too fast, I've seen people go nuclear over a highlighter shade.
