That influencer apology video that backfired hard
I was scrolling Instagram around 2 AM last week when I saw this travel influencer post a 10 minute video apologizing for staying at a resort during a local hurricane. She said she 'didn't realize the severity' which got people even more mad. Within 3 hours her comments went from 200 to 8,000 and almost all of them were calling her out. She ended up deleting her whole page by the next morning. Has anyone else seen a celeb apology make things worse instead of better?

Right, and what gets me is the whole 'I didn't know there was a hurricane' excuse. Like, did you check the weather for your beach vacation or just wing it? My phone literally screamed at me with alerts about a category 3 storm two days ahead of time. She sat there dabbing sunscreen while locals were boarding up windows, the ultimate main character energy. Honestly, the video probably would've been less embarrassing if she just went with 'yeah I messed up, my bad' instead of trying to play dumb.

Hang on, let me play the other side for a sec. If you've never lived near the coast or dealt with hurricanes, maybe those alerts blend into the noise of every other push notification. She's on vacation, probably hungover, phone on do not disturb. Easy to miss.
