Spent $220 on that canceled chef's cookbook, the recipes are actually solid
Tbh I bought it out of spite after his whole meltdown over the bad review, but the braised short rib recipe alone was worth the price. Does supporting a canceled creator's work make me part of the problem, or is separating the art from the artist still allowed when the food is this good?
The part everyone skips is where the money actually lands after the dust settles. Dude already got his advance from the publisher, so your $220 mostly pays back the store and the warehouse, not him. If he fell off that hard, there is a real chance he is not seeing much of anything from those sales now anyway. What you are really doing is keeping a good editor and a test kitchen crew employed, and those folks did nothing wrong. Buy the book, cook the food, and let the internet do what it does with him.
