Read an old MySpace blog post and realized the internet never forgives, it just moves on

I was cleaning out a hard drive my cousin left at my place back in 2019 and found a cached page from a celeb who got cancelled in 2008 for something dumb they said on their blog. The post was still up on some archive site. The wild part? People in the comments are still mad about it. That's like 16 years of holding a grudge over a bad joke. Meanwhile the celeb is doing fine, posting dog pics on IG. It made me wonder if there's any amount of time that makes people chill out, or if the internet just picks a new target and forgets the old ones. Has anyone else seen an old cancelled post still getting ratioed in like 2025?

People hold onto grudges the same way they hold onto old winter coats. They keep them in the back of the closet just in case, even though they never plan on wearing them again. I see it with neighbors too, someone says one dumb thing at a block party in 2019 and gets the cold shoulder at every barbecue since. The internet is just that same small town energy but with a search bar and a timestamp. Folks eventually get bored and move on to the next outrage, but the receipts never expire, so the anger just sits there waiting to be re-activated.
