Got dragged for posting a sponsored ad wrong - never again

I took a paid collab with a skincare brand back in March, $250 for one Instagram story. I forgot to put the #ad hashtag and someone screenshot it and posted it in a cancel callout group. Within 4 hours I had 200 comments calling me a scammer. I deleted the story and reposted with the tag but the damage was done. Lost like 300 followers that week. Has anyone else here had a collab backfire because of a dumb technical mistake like forgetting a disclosure?

Honestly that sucks but maybe you're overthinking it. If the brand was legit and the product was good, people would've gotten over it if you just left the story up instead of deleting it.
