A YouTuber told me my "honest apology" video came off fake, so I stopped scripting them
Back in March I made a response video after some drama with a brand deal and a bunch of people in the comments said I was doing the fake cry voice. One commenter with like 40k likes wrote that my apology sounded like a hostage reading a note, and honestly they were right. I had a friend write out bullet points and I read them off a monitor, which is why my eyes kept darting to the corner. So I tried again with zero script, just me in my kitchen at like 11pm, and that clip got 2.1 million views while the scripted one stalled at 90k. Now when I mess up I just talk straight into the camera and let it be awkward. The weird part is people trust the messy ones way more. Does anyone else think polished apologies are basically dead now?
