Was totally skeptical about those creosote sweeping logs, but after pulling out way less gunk on a 6-month chimney in Tulsa last week I might actually grab another one.
I tried one as a joke after a homeowner left it sitting on their hearth, and the difference in buildup between that flue and the one I did the month before without it was honestly pretty noticeable, has anyone else seen real results or was it just a fluke?

Did you use it on a really dry day though?

I used to roll my eyes so hard at those things, honestly. Thought it was just another gimmick homeowners buy to skip a real cleaning. But a buddy of mine in Oklahoma had me do a test with his, and the difference on that flue compared to the one I'd done a few months back without it was pretty clear. Less black flakes falling out, less scraping, less mess. I'm still not saying it replaces a full mechanical sweep, but for keeping things manageable between cleanings? Might actually be worth it. Did you notice less ash in the bottom of the firebox too?
