Vent: Took me 6 hours to fix a draft issue that should have taken 20 minutes
Old chimney in a 1920s house in Portland, the damper was fine but smoke kept rolling back in. Turns out the flue liner had a gap at the second-story transition that was pulling air weird. Wish I'd checked there first instead of chasing the cap and crown for most of a day. Anyone else dealt with sneaky mid-flue leaks like that?

6 hours on a draft issue from a 1920s house sounds about right honestly. That's just how old houses are, they fight you every step of the way. Sucks you lost a day but at least you found it eventually.
