TIL my chimney brush snapped off inside a flue on a job in Spokane last Tuesday
I was three brushes in on a routine clean when the wire loop gave out and the head dropped about six feet down. Spent two hours with a shop vac and a magnet on a string fishing it out. Has anyone else had a brush head fail like that, or did I just get a lemon from that batch?

and nobody's even mentioning the possibility that it wasn't just a bad brush but maybe the flue itself had a burr or a weld slag that caught the wire wrong. i had a similar thing happen once where the head got hung up on a shitty crimp joint and the loop snapped from the side load rather than the brush just wearing out. if you didn't check the flue for sharp spots before you fished it out, you might wanna run a camera down there or at least a rag to see if there's anything catching again. could save you from losing another brush head next time.

Yeah "nobody's even mentioning" is kinda how it goes a lot of the time. People jump to the most obvious answer and miss the deeper issue that's probably been there all along. It's like when your car makes a noise and everyone says it's the brakes but really it's a loose bolt somewhere else.
