I finally splurged on a HEPA vacuum attachment and it paid off fast
Spent $95 on a Dustless HEPA kit for my shop vac after getting sick of the fine soot cloud every time I cleaned a firebox. First job with it in an old 1930s house in Oak Park, and I barely had to wipe down the living room after. Has anyone else tried a cheaper alternative that actually works as well?

Oh come on, $95 for a vacuum attachment is insane when a basic cyclone separator for like $30 does the same thing if you already have a decent shop vac.

Same boat here. I rigged up a cheap bucket lid kit and a shop vac years ago and it's still going strong, no $95 piece of plastic needed.
