Had a talk with an old timer that changed how I look at creosote
This guy with 40 years in said he never bothers with rotary brushes on heavy buildup, just hand scrapes it all and I laughed until he showed me his results. Made me wonder if I've been overcomplicating my approach for no reason - anyone else run into a veteran with a weird method that actually works better?

Oh man, my buddy had the same thing happen with an old mason who swore by just using vinegar and water for cleaning brick instead of all those harsh chemicals. Said his bricks lasted twice as long as anyone else's in the crew.

Vinegar eats mortar joints too if you're not careful, @rubyk86.

Man, I read somewhere that old timers have been using simple elbow grease methods for decades and they still hold up strong.
