Compared rotary brushes vs chain flails on a heavy creosote job last week

Swapped my rotary brush for a chain flail on a 4-inch buildup and the difference in speed was night and day. Has anyone else found flails work better on that hard glaze stuff?

Oof, I feel that. Flails are basically cheating on that rock-hard stuff.

Friend of mine tried using a mace on some old concrete chunks behind a barn. Swung it once, the head bounced back and nearly clipped his knee. Spent the rest of the afternoon on a cooler with a bag of frozen peas.

I ended up switching to a heavier maul with a shorter handle for that kind of stuff, it just felt more controlled in tight spaces. Kept my feet planted wider and took shorter swings so nothing could bounce back at me. Took some getting used to but way less scary than the flail after that first close call.
