Had to pick between gas range vs induction for my new kitchen

Went with induction after reading about heat control and safety. The speed of boiling water still shocks me, like half the time of gas. Anyone else make that switch and regret it or love it?

My buddy Dave got one and melted his spatula on the first day.

Saw that happen with a buddy too. He melted a spatula and a plastic spoon on his first week. I mean, is it really that big of a deal though? You just get used to not walking away from the burner. Same as you wouldn't leave a gas flame on high with a plastic handle hanging over it. People make it sound like the kitchen is going to explode if you forget a spoon. It's really more about learning the quirks of new gear. Maybe I'm being too casual about it but I think a lot of the horror stories get blown out of proportion.
