Warning: I tried to 'fix' a celebrity's tweet for a friend and it backfired hard

My friend was freaking out because a singer she loves posted a picture with a totally wrong location tag, saying she was in Miami when the background was clearly LA. I thought I'd be helpful and quote-tweeted it with a 'fun' correction, tagging the celeb. Well, her fans found my profile and absolutely flooded my replies for two days straight, calling me a stalker and worse. I learned you never, ever try to correct a celebrity's mistake publicly, even if you think you're helping. Has anyone else had a fanbase turn on them for something small like that?

Shows how people will defend a brand over basic facts.

Exactly, it's wild. I saw a huge fight online because someone said a popular phone's battery life was just okay. You'd think they insulted people's families. The facts were right there in the reviews, but nope, brand loyalty wins every time. It feels like trying to talk about the weather and getting yelled at for not liking their favorite cloud.
