TIL never trust a celebrity 'sale' code on Instagram

I spent $47 on a skincare set because a B-list actress posted a 50% off link in her story. Turned out the 'sale' was just her affiliate markup, and the same set was $32 on the brand's own site. The products arrived 3 weeks late and smelled like plastic. Now I double check every celeb promo code against the actual store. Has anyone else gotten burned by an influencer's 'exclusive' deal?

Right? @the_hayden said it perfectly, that markup is insane. I fell for the same thing with a "limited edition" lip kit from a YouTuber, paid like $15 more than the drugstore price and it dried out my lips instantly.

$47 for something normally priced $32? That's wild lmao, they really out here marking it up and calling it a deal.

Oh come on, you gotta admit the "limited edition" hype is half the fun though. It's like paying extra for the story behind it, even if the lip kit was a bust (sorry about your lips, that really sucks). Plus some people just like feeling like they're getting in on something exclusive, even if it's a total ripoff.
