My cousin's 3-hour deep dive on that deleted tweet changed how I see PR fails

We were talking about that singer who posted an apology for a typo and then deleted it 10 minutes later, which made everyone screenshot it and turn it into a meme. My cousin, who works at a small ad agency in Austin, said the delete is always worse than the mistake because it proves you saw the backlash and panicked. Has anyone else noticed how celebs who leave the cringe post up actually get less heat than the ones who scrub it fast?

Ever think deleting just makes people screenshot it harder? I used to disagree, now I get it.
