Messed up a tweet tagging the wrong celebrity and got ratio'd for 3 days straight
I tried to tag @ArianaGrande in a post about great pop vocals but accidentally tagged an account that hasn't been active since 2016 and her fans tore me apart for being clueless, so now I triple-check every handle before hitting send - ever had a tagging oops that blew up in your face?

Oh man I've been there. I once tried to tag the official Dr. Pepper account in a tweet about my favorite soda but ended up tagging some random fan account that posts conspiracy theories about the recipe changing. That account's followers went NUTS on me for like a week straight calling me a corporate shill. Now I literally type out handles in a text file first to compare them letter by letter before I even think about tweeting. Your triple-check method is completely justified, these celebrity fan accounts are WILD and they WILL come for you over the smallest mistake.

honestly i think you're way overthinking this. in my experience most people move on from a ratio within like 48 hours max and nobody remembers it after that. your mileage may vary but i've definitely tagged the wrong person before and yeah it stung for a bit but then i just deleted it and moved on with my life. i mean unless you're like a verified account or running a brand page i really don't think it matters that much in the grand scheme of things. the internet has a short attention span and they're probably already onto the next drama by now. take this with a grain of salt but i'd say just let it blow over and don't stress too hard about it.

Actually the 48 hour thing isn't really accurate, I've seen ratios keep popping up weeks later in quote tweets.
