I finally see why celebs post those weird food pics

You know those random photos celebrities post of like a half eaten sandwich or a burnt toast? I used to think it was just laziness. But then I spent $45 on a meal at this fancy LA cafe last month and took a photo of my plate. The lighting was terrible and my hand was shaky, so it came out looking like a crime scene photo. I posted it anyway because I paid so much and wanted to show off. The comments were brutal, people asking if I dropped my food on the floor. Now I get why some celebs just give up and post bad pics of their meals, it's cheaper than a food photographer. Has anyone else here posted a fail photo of an expensive meal just to regret it?

Got that photo sitting in my camera roll too and I still cringe every time I scroll past it. Paid $60 for some tiny portion of octopus that looked like a science experiment gone wrong, tried to get a quick shot and the overhead light made it look like a wet sock on a plate. The worst part is I actually defended it in the comments saying the lighting was bad as if that helped any. I swear some restaurants design their plates to look good only under specific angles that require a professional photographer on staff. At this point I just snap a pic of the menu instead or the drink because those are harder to mess up.

Is the drink picture strategy working out or are you getting the same overhead glare issues with those too? Some of those cocktail photos I've seen look like someone dropped a glow stick in a glass of dishwater.
