The day I realized I had been using my dishwasher wrong for 6 years

I always loaded plates facing the center, thinking that was how water hit them. Then my neighbor saw me doing it and laughed. She showed me the manual - everything should angle toward the spray arm on the bottom. I tested it out that night and my glasses came out spotless for the first time ever. Wish I had read the booklet back in 2019 when I moved into this apartment. Anyone else have a 'wait, I've been doing it wrong this whole time' moment with an appliance?

Bro same thing happened to me with my clothes dryer of all things. I had been cleaning the lint filter wrong for like 5 years, just pulling off the big fuzzy layer and thinking that was enough. Then my buddy who fixes appliances for a living saw me do it and was like "dude you gotta wash that screen with soap and water every few months." Tried it and my clothes actually dry in one cycle now instead of three. The manual for my washer also says to run a cleaning cycle with vinegar every 30 loads and I never did that either until last month. Now my laundry room doesn't smell like a wet dog anymore.
