Shoutout to the guy at Costco who caught me in my own lie

I drove 30 minutes to the Costco in Clackamas last Tuesday because I told my buddy I knew the shortcut that skips the 205 mess. He sent me a screenshot of my own text from last month saying I'd never go back to that location after the parking lot disaster. Standing there with a $1.50 hot dog in my hand, I had to admit the shortcut he found on Google Maps was actually faster by 11 minutes. That screenshot humbled me so hard I just laughed and bought him a chicken bake to apologize. Has anyone else been straight up exposed by their own old texts like that?

Watched my buddy Dave pull up his own old group chat message from 2019 saying he'd never eat at that taco place again. We were already sitting there with our order numbers called. He had a whole speech about how the new ownership changed things. Took one bite of his burrito and went quiet for a solid minute. Then he admitted it tasted exactly like the "garbage" he complained about five years ago.

I've said I'd never shop at a store again over one bad cart, then gone back the next week because they have the good salsa. It's not lying, it's just being human.
