Saw a girl at the Franklin Ave farmers market get caught lying about her 'homemade' jam in front of like 40 people
She had a booth set up with handwritten labels and everything, then a vendor two stalls down recognized the exact same Smucker's jar she refilled. The look on her face when he held up his own jar with the sticker still on the bottom was priceless. Somebody got a photo and it was in our neighborhood group chat by noon. Has anyone else seen a fake artisan booth get called out like this or was this just a Brooklyn thing?
Saw something similar at the McCarren Park greenmarket last summer. Guy had a whole setup selling "small batch hot sauce" out of fancy little bottles with wax seals. A woman buying tomatoes started laughing because she worked at a restaurant where they used the exact same sauce straight from a bulk gallon jug. He tried to say it was a "private label partnership" but nobody was buying it. The funniest part was his handwritten sign that said "recipe passed down three generations.
