Paid $60 for a 'premium' parking app, got towed anyway in Austin

Downloaded that SpotHero clone last month. Thought I paid for a reserved spot near 6th Street. Showed up, someone else was parked there. App support said not their problem. Towed my truck, $240 to get it out. Has anyone else gotten burned by these parking apps?

Damn, $240 to get the truck out? That's brutal. And the app just said "not their problem" after taking your $60? That's wild to me. These apps act like they're guaranteed spots but really they're just listings, nothing's actually reserved. Same thing happened to my buddy in Dallas, paid for a spot near Deep Ellum, got there and some dude in a F-150 was just sitting there with his hazards on. App refunded him $12 and called it a day. How is that even legal?

Ha! At least you got a refund, @ray363. I'd be happy with a coupon for a free tow truck ride at this point.
