My GPS said I was at the lake, but I was in a cornfield in Ohio

So last Tuesday I was driving to visit my sister near Dayton and Google Maps told me to take this 'shortcut' down some random county road. I ended up following it for like 20 minutes past nothing but corn and then the road just turned to gravel and my phone lost signal. I pulled over, opened my map app again when I got a bar back, and it showed me smack dab in the middle of what it labeled as Buckeye Lake. I was clearly in a field, not even near water, and there was some guy on a tractor staring at me like I was lost. I had to backtrack 15 miles to get back on the main highway, which added an hour to my trip. How do these apps still get directions this wrong in 2024? Has anyone else had a navigation fail that made you question if you were secretly transported somewhere?
