My "expert" take on parking lot paint failed in front of 12 people

I bragged at a job in Austin that water-based striping was always better than thermoplastic, then a forklift dragged a pallet through it 20 minutes after I finished. The foreman just pointed at the smear and said "that's your call, genius" while everyone watched me scrub it off with a wire brush. Anyone else have a confident opinion blow up publicly like that?
