Dropped $80 on a 'viral' plant watering gadget that just rotted all my succulents

Bought this self-watering stake from an Instagram ad three months ago and came home yesterday to find every single pot sitting in swampy soil with mushy roots, so now I'm out the cash plus five years of succulent growth, has anyone else fallen for those gimmicky plant tools?

Shook my head reading this because SAME thing happened to my cousin. She bought this fancy looking glass terrarium from an Instagram ad with pebbles and moss and all that. Watered it exactly like the video said and within a week the whole thing was mush. I tried to warn her but she said my succulents were just ugly anyway. Your friend probably got that same scammy set up with no drainage holes. Rotted faster than a tomato in August I bet.

Did you all see those ads with the little glass jars and the pretty colored sand? I fell for one too, got a kit from some store online and my succulents were dead in like 4 days. Who thought putting a desert plant in a sealed-up fish bowl was a good idea?
