What's the best way to stop carpet edges from curling up in high-traffic areas?

Honestly? I just live with it! That curling happens to every rug eventually, especially where people walk all the time. It's not like a tripping hazard or anything, just a bit of wear and tear. I tried those rug tapes once and they left a gross sticky mess. For me, it's easier to just flatten it with my foot when I walk by and forget about it. It gives the place some character anyway.
