TIL most guys skip the tack strip transition into doorways

I've been fixing three jobs this month where the carpet is already pulling loose at the door because nobody installed a transition strip or even tucked the edge under properly. Caught a crew last Tuesday just butt-jointing two pieces at a bedroom door with no seam tape or metal bar. Has anyone else seen this shortcut causing callbacks down the line?

Yeah, I've done the same thing king.wyatt mentioned with the Z-bar. I started doing that after getting two callbacks in a row on the same street. It's a pain but I haven't had a single callback since.

I had a job last summer where the homeowner called me back three times because the carpet kept pulling up at the same bedroom door. The first crew had just cut the carpet flush with the door frame and left it. What finally worked was ripping out that whole doorway section and installing a proper Z-bar transition. I tucked the carpet edge under the bar nice and tight, then put a few staples in the tack strip right at the doorway to hold everything down. It's been six months now and no callbacks from that house. I know it takes an extra 15 minutes per door but it saves a headache later.
