TIL cheap seam tape can ruin a whole living room install
Last month I put down a nice level loop in a house near Portland, used a budget roll of seam tape I got on sale. The seam popped open three days later, right down the middle of their hallway. The homeowner called me out on it, and I had to go back and redo the whole run for free. My supplier showed me how the adhesive on that tape just doesn't cure below 65 degrees, which I never thought about. Now I only buy the heavier tape, even if it costs $12 more per roll. Has anyone else had a seam fail because of temperature, or was it just me being cheap?
