Tricks from people who know their stuff really change the game. Your uncle's knee kicker tip is a perfect example of saving your body from strain. There's a whole world of these little methods that get passed around in trades and DIY work. They often come from years of doing things the hard way and finding a better path. It's not just about saving time, but about keeping people healthy and able to work longer. Learning those tricks early can make a huge difference in how you feel after a long day.

Oh for sure, @morganhill is spot on about those little tricks. I remember when I was laying flooring, my buddy showed me how to use a pry bar to lock planks in place without straining my wrists. You just tap it gently at an angle and it clicks right in, no force needed. It made a huge difference in how my hands felt after a full day.

That part about tricks coming from "years of doing things the hard way" hits home. Do you find there's a good system for passing those lessons to new people, or does it still mostly depend on lucking into a good mentor? I've seen some guys almost gatekeep that stuff.
