I glue carpet to concrete and folks think I'm crazy

Most crews use tack strips, but I skip them on solid slabs. The glue holds tight and avoids bumps from strip shift. Key is a clean, dry surface.

I've been called worse than crazy for my glue method, but it beats tripping on lumpy carpet. My wife says I'm just too cheap to buy tack strips.

Seems like a lot of extra work just to avoid strips. Is the strip shift thing really that common? I’d worry more about the prep time getting the slab perfectly clean.

How do you handle a slab that isn't perfectly level? I'd worry the glue might not fill gaps and you'd still get bumps... seems like the prep would be even more critical.
