A homeowner's passing comment made me recheck my seams today

I was finishing a living room in a 1980s split level up in Maplewood, and the owner asked why I stretch so hard on the seams. Said their last guy just glued them down flat and it looked fine for a few years. I showed him the ripples starting by the doorway, but honestly it got me thinking about how many of us cut corners on prep just to get out faster. Does anyone else run into folks who think a glue gun fixes everything, or am I the only one still knee-kicking every seam twice? Has anyone else had a customer question your process and it actually made you double-check your own habits?
